Black is a West Virginia artist, originally from Buckhannon, but currently living in Morgantown. She draws inspiration from the woods and wild places to create imagery that honors the spirit of the natural world. The strangeness of Appalachia and beyond features heavily in her work, a nod to those feeling just slightly out of step with time and place. She specializes in watercolor painting and relief printing, using these mediums to accomplish different but complementary goals in her craft. When she’s not in the studio, you can find her hiking, tending the garden, and napping with her cat.
