Gallery Without Walls Curatorial Services

Our Gallery Without Walls Program creates opportunities for talented artists while helping area businesses to infuse their spaces with a unique sense of place.

Art in public spaces plays a distinguishing role in our country’s history and culture. It reflects and reveals our society, enhances meaning in our civic spaces, and adds uniqueness to our communities. Public art matters because our communities gain cultural, social, and economic value through public art.

The key to a successful art program in a public environment is relevance. We understand that art is subjective, but the common thread that ties the individuals to the space whether they are visitors or staff is locality.

The Gallery Without Walls Program works as a catalyst for independent thinking. The Arts Council’s mission for twenty years has been to advance the arts and enhance the community. With these types of initiatives, we push our mission and vision by connecting emerging and established artists, institutions, and forward-thinking businesses, to forge creative networks and generate new forms of collaboration and communication.

Art presented in a public space can always provide an exploration into the creative realm. Guided by professional expertise and public involvement, should seek out the most imaginative and productive affinity between artist and community. Likewise, artists must bring to the work their artistic integrity, creativity, and skill.
